“Painting for me is a search of treasures of the visible and invisible worlds through colour. It's a dance between flow and intention, and a connecting line to my ancestors.” - Born in Lithuania as the daughter of a painter and a jeweller, visual artist Wilma La spent her young years undertaking conservatory training as a pianist and jazz musician. Her husky-rich vocals and evocative piano melodies were quickly noticed, and she went on to perform in Syria, Jordan, the UAE and Melbourne. However, Wilma's calling as a visual artist was equally as strong, with painting, photography and photo-editing providing a welcome escape from the hectic life of a musician. Art soon became as important to Wilma as music.

From large-scale acrylic abstract/impressionist pieces to botanical-inspired watercolour and ink works, Wilma’s distinctive artistic style reverberates with the textures of nature, celebrations of light and stories of travel. There is a unique duality in her works that swings between the dynamic power and energy present in the natural world and human condition, and an exquisite subtleness that whispers of the ephemeral nature of things.

Today, Wilma works from her home studio on the coast of Central Queensland where she lives with her young family.
