Artwork Description

“Golden Spirit” is an expressive watercolour portrait capturing the beauty, strength and gentle character of a chestnut horse. Its flowing dark blue mane creates a striking contrast against the warm palette of peach, coral, soft pink and golden yellow. Loose washes and delicate details give the background a dreamy, abstract quality, allowing the horse’s expressive eye and graceful features to remain the focus.

A warm and uplifting artwork for horse lovers and anyone drawn to the beauty, freedom and spirit of these magnificent animals.

Artist Bio

Born in China, I arrived in Australia in 1989 and have been living on the Gold Coast, Queensland since 1992. Art has always been a meaningful way for me to connect with the world around me. Through my paintings, I strive to capture the beauty, emotion, and quiet moments found in nature and everyday life. My goal is to create artwork that invites viewers to pause, reflect, and appreciate the landscapes, wildlife, and people that inspire me.

Inspired by the beauty and diversity of the natural world, my artistic practice centres on capturing the essence of landscapes, wildlife, and the human spirit. While landscape painting remains the primary focus of my work, I also enjoy creating expressive portraits of animals and people.

I work predominantly in oil and acrylic, as these mediums allow me to convey the richness, depth, and atmosphere of the landscapes that inspire me. In recent years, I have also developed a passion for watercolour, embracing its spontaneity and delicacy to paint birds, wildlife, and portraits with freshness and vitality.

My work has been collected locally, interstate, and internationally. I have completed commissioned animal portraits for friends and private collectors, and my artwork has also been sold through Bluethumb and the Royal Queensland Art Society Gallery at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast.

As an artist, I am committed to continual growth and lifelong learning. I enjoy participating in workshops, learning from fellow artists, and challenging myself by entering art exhibitions and competitions. Looking ahead, I hope to continue creating meaningful artworks inspired by nature, animals, and people, bringing joy and connection to collectors and art lovers alike.
