Artwork Description

One of two works inspired by views overlooking the Wingecarribee Reservoir just outside of Bowral in the Southern Highlands, south west of Sydney. This area of the world has been a constant source of inspiration, having spent much of my childhood exploring this beautiful part of the world.

Artist Bio

Winston is an accomplished oil and watercolour painter, based north of Sydney. Having a unique passion for art and architecture and all things design from an early age, with two parents and an extended family deeply involved in the pursuit of the arts. His unique upbringing and education as well as his travels have combined to give him a cohesive refined aesthetic, and a unique approach to all his creative endeavours.

Although Winston has spent the last fifteen years in the architectural profession, he nonetheless developed and progressed with oil painting tandem. focusing primarily on plain air painting landscapes and architecture subjects inspired by his travels Europe. Winston’s unique back ground in the study and practice of architecture was pivotal in establishing complementary skills to his oil artistic pursuits. Helping to understand the classical nature of a building, its proportional relationships, its construction methodology and its unique details are invaluable knowledge to assist in the production of detailed paintings. Giving a sense of realism and authenticity to the representation of the subject matter.

Winston’s classical design and artistic skills have been recognised awards and publications from the Prince’s Foundation, the Institute of Classical Art and Architectures Bunny Melon Landscape Design Competition, the Enduring Design Awards with Heritage Trust Australia, Street levels ‘Sydney is beautiful design competition’ and Vogue magazine. As well as having works exhibited in exhibitions for the NSW Parliament, Artes christie and the Kings Foundation.
