This watercolour captures the warm glow of sunset over Daniels Bay on Bruny Island, Tasmania. The still water reflected shades of gold, rose, and soft violet, while a few birds rested on a fallen branch in the middle of the bay, silhouetted against the light. It was one of those moments where nature slows down, inviting you to pause and simply look.
I painted this using Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolours on handmade 300gsm Khadi rough paper. The fine pigments bring out rich, lasting colours, and the textured surface of the paper gives the light on water a soft, shimmering quality.
I hope this painting carries the peace of that Tasmanian evening to wherever it finds its home.
