Artwork Description

The artwork is a screen print featuring a bold and symbolic composition. At the center is a large circular form in shades of turquoise and teal, textured with subtle gradients that evoke the image of Earth or a life-giving sphere. Two stylized hands rise from the bottom, positioned as if gently holding and supporting the circle. The hands are decorated with intricate pink patterns resembling floral and ornamental motifs, adding a sense of delicacy and cultural richness. Intertwining with the hands and extending upward across the circle is a dark green vine with leaves, symbolizing growth, vitality, and the interconnectedness between humanity and nature. The color palette combines cool tones of turquoise and teal with soft pink and deep green, creating a harmonious and visually balanced composition. The crisp edges and layered textures of the screen printing technique enhance the clarity and strength of the design, making the piece both visually striking and conceptually meaningful. Overall, the artwork conveys a message of care, protection, and the flourishing relationship between humans and the natural world.

Artist Bio

I am a visual artist based in Cairns, Queensland, inspired by the lush landscapes and vibrant ecosystems of Far North Queensland. My practice focuses on ceramics and printmaking, exploring the intricate patterns and textures found in nature. Since beginning my artistic journey in 2012, I have developed a style that blends traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, creating works that evoke harmony and connection to the environment. Recently, I completed a Diploma in Visual Arts at TAFE and exhibited at Tanks Arts Centre, showcasing pieces that celebrate the beauty and fragility of our natural world. Each piece I create invites viewers to pause, reflect, and engage with the delicate balance between humanity and nature. Through my work, I strive to create art that not only resonates aesthetically but also sparks conversations about our relationship with the environment and the importance of preserving it for future generations.
