Artwork Description

If you are like me, you love the tranquility of the Japanese water gardens, where a single ripple seems to have meaning behind it... where the smallest changes feel significant... where it feels like the water responds to your breath.

This work is about such ripples on water. They skim across the surface in their finite existence. They carry away the worries of the day and induce a sense of calm. I hope this painting will re-create healing influence of such a water garden, and bring some beautiful zen into your room.

Artist Bio

Hi there!

I am a Brisbane-based artist, working in acrylic and watercolour media. I am also a curator and an art historian, and my art practice gives me a better understanding of the struggles of the artists that I research and write about.

The aim of my art is to show the world from a different perspective. My acrylics are an expression of colour, mood and personality. I love textures and any stylistic devices that allow bending the perception available through art. My watercolour painting is a way of zooming into imperfections. Rusty roofs, dirty bricks, and irregularity in landscapes help us find the beautiful around us.

I think artists throughout centuries used their skills to challenge their audiences' perception. I hope to move the audiences with my art, and to touch something intrinsically human inside them.
