This degummed print depicts a group of four human figures holding hands, set against a vibrant background of blue sky, green forest, and earthy textures. The figures are rendered in soft purples and whites, emerging from the textured surface created through the gum-resist technique. Their connected postures evoke themes of unity, family, and togetherness. The contrasting textures and flowing lines reflect a sense of movement and harmony between the figures and their environment. This artwork celebrates human connection and the emotional warmth of collective presence in nature. This piece was influenced by natural landscapes and community-based themes in early childhood art practices. The use of degummed printmaking draws on traditional resist techniques found in print and textile art, while also embracing the intuitive, process-focused approach of contemporary children’s art. Inspiration was also taken from the Reggio Emilia approach, which values children as capable artists and emphasizes collaborative expression and connection with nature. The visual language reflects an appreciation of tactile processes and the spontaneous beauty that emerges through exploration.
