Flamingo Lilies

During my trip to Colombia, I was impressed by the bright colours of everything, especially the flowers. I saw these flamingo lilies while visiting a coffee plantation, and this painting aims to depict their bright colours against the dark foliage.

I am a Hunter Valley based artist and work in acrylics, watercolor and pastels.
I search for the extraordinary in subject material. It may be a landscape or a single flower I find interesting, or would like to understand. I am particularly mesmerized by sunsets and sunrises, by the excitement of intense light, mood and the dramatic sculptural forms in the object.
Most of my landscapes are started on location and completed in my art studio in Aberglasslyn.
My approach to depicting light is:
