Artwork Description

Acrylic on stretched canvas, ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

My works is known to emit a light and ethereal mood which instantly bring peace and relaxation to the space they inhabit, an appreciation for my natural environment is fundamental to my practice as I observes its transitions and natural beauty.
I have a delicate and fine approach which provides an immersive experience for those viewing my works.

This latest body of work involves a visual representation of Sydney throughout the pandemic and reflects our community’s natural beauty as we are navigating through the unknown. Throughout these recent months the land has had an extreamly positive impact on my pyche more than ever, not only as I intereact within it but as I paint it and then share it with others.

“ Local Lockdown” aims to promote the natural beauty of our community as we navigate throughout our country’s pandemic. This body of work aims to bring focus and admiration to our day to day lives as everything slows down and our lives get put into perspective and we can focus on the importance of the little things that truly matter. Focus is directed into the mental health and inclusion of our community and how we can explore the positive impact that nature can have on ones psyche.

During these past months in lockdown, my life like many others has been simplified, I have been reduced down to working two days a week in my other job, so more time for me to paint!

Throughtout this time in lockdown to keep my mental health in check I swim in the ocean most days and go for walks around the neighbourhood. Without venturing far I have been finding much inspiration close to home, I have especially enjoyed drawing inspiration from the local ocean pools. I love seeing the pools at different times of day with long shadows stretched across their pavements and light reflecting beneath the surface. I love the colours you find underwater, there are perfect colour combinations to be found.

Some works have a moody dark deserted feel, others a vibrant uplifting effect, I think this reflects the ups and downs of days in Lockdown.

Through art and expression I wish to bring together our community and all it’s included demographics to appreciate the land and its positive impact it has on our psyche.
