Yukiko Abe-Kruithof is a visual artist, based in Melbourne, Australia. Her practice spans painting, line drawing and cut paper, primarily utilizing the translucency of watercolour. Captivated by life’s impermanence and its inherent beauty, Yukiko is interested in human connection and how we transcend boundaries of separateness.
Her artwork draws from being a bridge between different cultures and different perspectives; her life experiences both in Japan and Australia and a wide-ranging career as a translator, language teacher and diplomatic assistant in a corporate setting helps her see one thing from many perspectives.
Described as “portals to presence”, her work captures and breaks down the fleeting moments to a beautiful simple form which represents the impermanence; truth of nature and life. It enables the viewers to access “the whole world” and appreciate the present moment.
Yukiko’s works have been included in multiple exhibitions at the Consulate General of Japan in Melbourne as well as in group shows at Brunswick Street Gallery, SOL Gallery and exhibitions by Contemporary Art Society of Victoria.
