Based in Richmond in Melbourne VIC, the land of Wurundjeri people, Coquille adds happiness, grace, love, beauty and peacefulness to the the viewers' heart and the space through her work which has underlying influence of her birth country Japan. She has close relationship with and great deal of respect to the nature and all her surroundings. She was born and brought up in central Tokyo surrounded by full of greenery (despite the image most people have of the city) as well as the well-known busy streets. She also spent a lot of time in rural towns where her grandparents lived. She moved to Australia in 1999 and has been calling Melbourne home since. Experiencing diverse environments, she has always been captivated by little things in her daily life; the shining colours of grains of sand or asphalt, the ever-changing shapes of clouds or a passer-byβs garment, quirky movements of a worm or train carriage connectors, the clearness of the water that she feels through her skin when she taps her toes in the ocean, the cold sheer of a metal bar at a construction site, a crease on a human face (aka wrinkle) and they are all beautiful. Coquille later realized its importance and hopes to share the happiness that anyone can experience from finding little beauty in all things around us and within us without judgement at any moment.
