Artist Bio

Born in Java Island, Indonesia, my passion for the arts started as a young journalist writing about arts and culture. I had opportunities to visit many places to explore my knowledge of art—especially visual arts—and later continued this interest through my art studies in Australia. I have two lovely adults who are very creative and artistic.

My background as a journalist guides my artistic practice. Despite years of experience as a storyteller and messenger, I sought greater freedom in my creative language, turning to abstract art to connect with audiences on a deeper level.
Use a variety of colours, shapes, and compositions to present a story, encouraging involvement and imagination. I invite viewers to have a thought-provoking, intangible, and emotional experience that differs for each person and to engage, interpret, and find their meanings.

I explore the interplay of colours and shapes to convey layered meanings; my compositions are visual creations and vehicles for messages that stimulate discovery and reflection.
When I do art, I find myself in my secret world, my happy place.
So, I choose brighter colours than dark colours in most of my paintings.

I embrace the beauty of nature through colours, shapes, and markings to define the landscapes, flora, and fauna of Australia, my home away from home.
I could see myself admiring our mesmerizing landscape and expressing it in my brush strokes. Years ago, I was sitting in my backyard and saw all the different plants I had frangipani, bamboo, bird of paradise, which reminded me of Indonesia, as well as grevilleas and jacarandas. That's pretty, and I felt "home.

Since I began focusing on my studio practice nine years ago, my accomplishments include being a finalist in the Moreton Bay Art Award 2022 and receiving grants from Moreton Bay Council in 2024 to support my ongoing creative journey. Also, one of six artists was selected to design a footpath concept for the council's Art at Large program in 2024.

I had the opportunity to be part of publishing artists' books for my essay writing in 2022 and 2023

I hold an Honours degree from the Faculty of Creative Arts and Digital Design at the University of Canberra and a Master's degree from the Faculty of Law, Business, and Arts and Design at Charles Darwin University. My multidisciplinary background (including in education) enriches my artistic approach, blending storytelling, design, and conceptual depth to create work that resonates with a broad audience.
