Coffee at Cradle Mountain:
As the morning light stippled over the rugged ice-carved rocks of this vista, instantly inspiring my creativity, for The Tarkine, surely must be the Lungs of the Planet. How I wish to have one more Coffee at Cradle Mountain!
Painted after the passing of my beloved mother. This work holds within its mark-making, many thoughts & emotions; I wished that I were at the very serene beauty of Cradle Mountain, sipping on a nice warm coffee. In reality, I am in my studio in Central Queensland, as humid heat sears in this summer.
Painted in Impasto oils & produced using palette knives. Coffee at Cradle Mountain is a personal victory by the stubborn artist. Light plays upon this piece beautifully to illuminate the sky and to reveal the impasto textures created by palette knife painted mark-making.
