Artwork Description

Inspiration was acquired from ‘Traditional Custodians’ legend of these authoritative Volcanic Monoliths and Magnificent River Catchments flowing from Como escarpment, Teewah Creek, onward throughout The Sunshine Coast landscape. This splendid catchment along with the authoritative Volcanic Monoliths are of ‘Macro’ significance within this region.
My reflection upon traditional legend of The Glasshouse Mountains and The Great Sandy Region endeavors to highlight the beauty and significance of this area and its ecology via depicting the encompassing 903 square km of this catchment flow through Coolooa, with spring fed Noosa River inflow and the many lakes of this regions’ ecosystems and tidal influences.
Historically, Colonial ideologies traditionally held significant influences upon this vital ecosystem with dire consequences: now only 42% of the original vegetation remaining and significant fauna is endangered.
‘Tibrogargan Tears’ hold renewed significance.
