Artist Bio

Hi, I’m Zachary Bennett-Brook aka Saltwater Dreamtime a contemporary artist, born & living on Dharawal Land (Wollongong) Australia. Being a proud Indigenous man of Torres Strait Islander heritage growing up in Wollongong (Dharawal Country), I have always been surrounded by the water & have always been involved with water-based activities. Being of Torres Strait Islander ancestry water has always played a vital role throughout my life. The ocean is ingrained within my personal & cultural heritage, often represented throughout many of my artworks & designs. At an early age I discovered my passion to paint personal stories through my art, combining both my surf & Indigenous cultures together in a modern manner. After exploring different mediums, I gained the confidence to develop my individual style & flair to share my personal journey through art.

Over the years I have been lucky enough to ship my art & travel both domestically & internationally showcasing my artworks around the world. My artworks have been exhibited in a number of solo & group exhibitions both here in Australia & overseas. As an artist I find & gather inspiration in the ocean's blue walls & sandy floors, often exploring different colour tones commonly associated with the sea throughout my works.

I strive to create artworks that are of the highest quality, representing my passion for surfing & our natural environment in conjunction with my Indigenous background to ultimately showcase my artistic flare. My ambition is to create & develop works, which are engaging & aesthetically appealing, whilst allow me to grow artistically & professionally.
