Artwork Description

‘The Port Melbourne Front Light is a round and tapered wooden-framed light built on piles. It used to be linked to the shore by a narrow wooden footbridge.
The tower used to show a fixed green light over a 26 degree sector, whilst a second green light occulted every six seconds in the four degree sector marking the centre of the Port Melbourne Channel. The light has not been in use for many years.
The Port Melbourne Leading Lights are historically significant as structures surviving from an important visual and functional link between Princes and Station Piers and along with these piers reflect the pattern of shipping activity during the 1920s and 1930s.’

Artist Bio

Hi, I am Zelda, an artist based in Melbourne. I am a completely self-taught artist and I love creating minimalistic art inspired by natural elements and colours.
My art practice has evolved over the years.
In my early years as an artist, I took a liking to painting “Vintage French Country style” art in oils.
Since moving to Australia 6 years ago, I started experimenting with a mixture of mediums on raw linen and found my unique style of art.
I find my inspiration in my surroundings. On my daily walks I am inspired by the architecture of the old buildings and houses, the natural colours and patterns of the seashells on the beach and the shapes and colours of our beautiful vegetation.
