I think I was born an artist. My formal artistic education began from the age of 11 with a 7 year secondary course at a School of Art which was then rounded off in a further 6 year course at the Latvian Academy of Art in Riga, concluding with a Masterโs degree in Fine Art.
I have always had a deep interest in figurative painting and nature with its never-ending forms, lines and colours also inspires me.
Work with oils on canvas especially linen, features strongly and I like to explore wider techniques (acrylic, ink, pencil, metallic leaf). Each medium provides its own perspectives offering a fresh approach.
I appreciate the value of using quality professional materials.
Exhibitions are part of my life and work, and I have participated in many solo exhibitions from 1987, mainly in Europe, but also in collective exhibitions in Latvia from 1984, Finland 2002, 2003, Austria 2017, Canada 2005 and of course, here in Australia from 2008.
The language of art flows like a river, ever on the move. Encountering something new on the way enables me to delve deeper into the unknown in the infinite creative process.
