Zoe Pavlou is a queer artist based in Melbourne. Her work depicts celebrations of joy and exuberance amongst the chaos. Abstract art and graffiti have always stimulated Zoe's mind and stirred her heart – the art she sees along the train line on her commute is often the highlight of her day. Spray paint is the perfect medium to depict how euphoria in all its forms can be a bit rough around the edges. It is always colourful and often imperfect, it can be simplistic but sometimes ballistic. And while graffiti and hip hop/rap go hand in hand, Zoe’s work is most strongly influenced by artists from the 60s including Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke.
