This commission was painted for a collector who admired another work of a similar subject on a canvas of very different dimensions. The inspiration for the original was the colours of autumn in a landscape of granite boulders. I used a similar palette and concept for this painting and was very happy with how thrilled the collector was with it. It was actually a relief to paint with these uplifting colours as I, like many others I'm sure, am overwhelmed by the constant views of scorched earth we're seeing with the bushfires.
