INFLUENCE:
Living by the bay, I often notice barnacles in the most amazing places. We all have seen them on the sides of piers and rocks which get swallowed up with the sea tides but I really didnt know anything about this somewhat pesky critter so I did a little research.
A Barnacle is a type of arthropod related to crabs and lobsters in contrast to the belief by many people who assume barnacles are related to molluscs. The Barnacle is a hardy animal that is found in or very close to sea water. They like places with lots of activity and reside on sturdy objects like rocks, pilings, buoys and boats which frequent moving.
Having all of this knowledge, I wanted to put it down on canvas. As Barnacles are not the most attractive subjects to paint, selecting an abstract style was fitting and here is the result depicting barnacles on driftwood moving about amongst wet sands.
