I kept the colours quite muted and ‘ghetto’ to give it a 70s urban boxing feel, and kept the acrylics in the face very simple, focusing on subtle details in the eyes to convey his renowned intensity and lightly brushed the white background over the aerosols to provide contrast and really lift him from the canvas. The combination of mediums and varnishes in this piece creates a dynamic piece that almost looks translucent when viewed from certain angles.
