Interesting reflections and shadows are a reoccurring theme in many of my still life paintings.

I'd had this piece in mind for many months before I found the perfect brass jug to work with. It was a challenge to set all of my subjects in place in the arrangement so that I could actually paint them, and I tweaked the position of the items many times until they created the most interesting reflections in the curved surface of the jug.

This artwork is painted on aluminium composite panel, a surface which is even more archival than canvas or wood. It is finished with a black box frame, which really sets off the rich colours of the brass and floral elements.
