Uluru- Kata Tjuta National Park, is in the heart of the Australian outback. The two most well known features of the red centre are sandstone and have been called Ayers Rock and The Olgas. The painting highlights indigenous oversight of Uluru, observed from one of the red domes of Kata Tjuta. Sacred to indigenous Australians, Uluru is known for the changing colours at sunrise and sunset and controversially, has been climbed by thousands of tourists visiting the rock. The painting has representations of commercial tourism accommodation, helicopter flights, hot air ballooning and the local airport. Some controversy exists that is the theme of this painting, "Uluru, Between a rock and a Hard Place". Outstanding, beautiful and iconic are three words that describe the world renowned natural wonder. The Emu theme represents the flightless bird racing across the desert in two separate mobs, watched by two Emus one confused and non plus and the other simply enjoying the more entertaining aspects of the goings on before them. Like many of my paintings, there are several small and slightly camouflaged features to find on a closer study. Message me if you find them all (there's five).
