I was invited to paint on site at the Bodalla Dairy Shed for the Eurobodalla River of Art Festival in September 2020. The organisers of this event were the Nature Coast Marine Group. The theme was promoting the protection and understanding of the coastal environment. This was challenging, especially when I was asked by the organiser to paint an underwater subject. After some research, I decided to paint the endangered Weedy Sea Dragon using my “Sculpting with Paint” techniques. Applying thick textured paint with a variety of tools including sea weed, I ink the surface to create the depth of view you get underwater. I am hopeful that the theme was satisfied by painting these beautiful and tranquil dragons to highlight their vulnerability.
