Cassowary in sight - Daintree Rainforest, Qld.
With an hour to spare in the Daintree before the ferry arrived, an unplanned turnoff gave the sight of a lifetime. This cassowary pair wandering on the road, holding up two cars already heading out, then us, heading inwards. We sat, in awe, watching till eventually, they wandered back into the rainforest. Exciting to capture this amazing photo of the pair.
"While all birds are descended from dinosaurs, the mysterious cassowary is thought to be more similar to ancient dinosaurs than most other birds. Large bodied with fierce claws, these flightless birds also have casques, a helmet-like structure atop the head, which many dinosaurs are believed to have had."
