Stormy Sunrise - Early Morning Walk is part of a series on stormy sunrise seascapes. I love the moodiness of sunrise seascapes.

This seascape includes two people with a dog walking on the beach at sunrise.

I enjoy working with pastel. Normally, the only drawback is that pastel drawings must be framed under glass to protect the delicate pastel finish. In this instance I chose to ignore the normal protocol of such framing, and to complete this drawing on canvas with a permanently sealed finish. Treating pastel this way chances losing the fresh brilliance that is the hallmark of pastel drawings, especially if light toned colours are used. I decided to take that chance and feel that I haven't lost the feeling that I wanted to capture.

Stormy Sunrise - Early Morning Walk does not need framing under glass or any form of framing. It is fully sealed and the pastel will never move.

It is perfect to hang in your office for that little bit of mental escape while enjoying your morning coffee.

Red Sky with Water has a dominant, bright red sky that takes up the top two thirds of the canvas with an aqua section in the bottom half of the left third of the sky. The aqua section reaches inwards and upward towards the middle of the canvas. a tree has multiple branches branching out from the left vertical third of the canvas at the horizon line. The foreground third combines red soil to the left, a stream of water flowing into and across the canvas from the bottom right corner and shadowed, dark grey blue ground separating the stream from the horizon. A line of small trees carries across the horizon in both the red and aqua sky sections. The scene continues around the deep sides of the canvas with the signature near the bottom on the right side.Red Sky with Aqua has a dominant bright red sky which takes up most of the top two thirds of the canvas. There is a section, less than a third, of the sky on the right side that is bright aqua. A large, dark, grey-blue tree trunk divides the canvas vertically into two thirds and one third. The bottom third displays a dark blue landscape with an angled aqua section forming a triangle in the left bottom corner of the canvas. A couple of small, full foliaged, aqua trees peep above the horizon on the left. The scene wraps around the deep edges of the canvas with a signature placed near the bottom right side.The top third of Stormy Ocean Sunrise - Green Sea features dark, threatening, umber clouds with golden light seeping through from the rising sun. At the left of the canvas, a dark, sea bird soars across the sky above the ocean. To the right the dark clouds rain heavily on the horizon. The dark blue and green ocean with big, turbulent, foamy waves fill the rest of the canvas.A cruise ship dominates the right of canvas of Stormy Ocean Sunrise - Cruise Liner. A trail of large wind swept foamy waves follows in the wake of the ship. The horizon is just above a third from the bottom. The morning sun is peeping through clouds above the horizon at left of canvas. Towards the top right of canvas the clouds open to reveal the sky. Over half the sky has dark storm clouds forming a triangle from top right to the horizon on the left.
