If you were to close your eyes, I’d describe View to the Mill like this:

Imagine standing barefoot on warm, earthy ground — the kind that crumbles gently between your toes. In front of you, wide furrows stretch out in perfect lines, flanked by lush, green sugarcane sprouting with early growth. The leaves rustle softly in the breeze, full of promise and quiet energy.

Beyond the fields, a line of golden cane glows where it catches the light, marking the horizon. In the distance, you see the shape of Wollumbin — strong, deep blue, and majestic — rising up under a sky brushed with soft, cottony clouds. It feels timeless, watching over the land. Just to the right, a tiny plume of white smoke rises from the Condong Mill — a gentle signal of industry nestled in the landscape, not overpowering, but present.

To your left, the branches of a leafy tree arch into your view, framing the scene like nature’s curtain. The whole composition feels balanced, familiar, and rooted — like home, or a memory of home.

It’s a painting that speaks through its stillness — of growth, land, legacy, and the quiet hum of life unfolding.

I started with the paint drips and it came out so great, l had to think of an image to go with it.
I thought old houses that had fallen into disrepair, the paint running off and the hoses falling down complimented the initial drips.
This is the kind of painting that tells stories and every time you look at it, you see something else.
