My artwork takes a critical view on a person’s innate ability to harness creativity from personal imagination and inspiration from others. Through the use of texture, color, and imagery, my artwork seeks to unite reality with the surreal. In this sense, creativity is the act of bringing forth the things unseen into a world that is dominated only by what is physically perceived. Drawing inspiration from Van Gogh’s stars, colors, and texture in ‘Starry Night’, I sought to construct my own creative rendition of the artwork. This artwork has been created in my usual impasto style, using a palette knife to carefully layer each paint stroke.
