Artist Bio
BAY is a Tongan/Australian artist whose work explores mental health and her Tongan ancestry.
She did not find out about her Polynesian heritage until later in life.
Her journey of discovery since has influenced the creation of vibrant abstract paintings.
After travelling extensively, she has found the unique underwater colours in the Pacific islands the most inspiring.
The repetition of patterns alongside abstract painting, suggest a way in which her ancestry and individuality can find harmony together.
The recent introduction of Tongan cultural symbols is significant in her career, and celebrates traditional cultures and contemporary influences.
$5 from each sale is donated to Headspace, the national youth mental health foundation dedicated to improving the wellbeing of young Australians.
