The shallows

The Shallows is painted in acrylic onto a stretched canvas. It is an imaginary piece that combines both abstract and realistic elements of water as it flows into the landscape from the sea. Hopefully the contrasting colours make your eyes travel around the canvas

I currently live in the leafy eastern suburbs of Melbourne. I grew up on a farm in the beautiful Yarra Valley where my appreciation of nature and the elements developed into the driving force in my art. I have always enjoyed painting. I find it relaxing and like my own form of meditation. I paint with acrylics onto canvas and quite often use a combination of brush and pallet knife in my work.
I love the challenge of trying to interpret the relationships of light and colour in what we see in nature.
