Artwork Description

Large surrealist painting‚ a landscape in sepia tones. This painting continues my established theme of trying to uncover meaning. A group of archaeologists toil in a rubble-strewn wasteland. Behind them are two colossal‚ partly buried impossible shapes.

The title of the painting comes from a lyric by Ethan Johns. It suggests to me the discovery of an ancient secret‚ or order‚ that is no longer really compatible with our material world - a collision of systematic science with potentially insoluble puzzles.
