Large, wide painting in my UNO card series. The inclusion of 'Death' in the hand of Uno cards is a playful, surreal memento mori - you never know what cards life will deal you!

For the past few years I've been fortunate to have a lot of success with these textured, layered reinterpretations of pop icons. The original inspiration came from Jasper Johns' 'Flag' series of paintings, wherein familiar imagery is transformed by layers of paint and energetic brushwork.
Drips and spatters and signs of overpainting are part of my visual approach.

Please note that the sides of the canvas are painted, and it is ready to hang without framing.
