No, it's not art, the pile of smashed bikes in a sun-drenched street of Milan. But, then again, if this mangled mess we're found in an art gallery of renown, it would no doubt be regarded as such,
especially if it carried a hefty price tag.
So what is it, you might ask. The answer is vandalism: rental bikes smashed up and piled high for the fun of it. But it doesn't stop there. I didn't come across this abomination in Milan at all, but in Sydney. More precisely, on a coastal walk from Coogee to Bondi.
What's the purpose of this ruse? As with vandalism, there isn't one. Unless of course you insist on inventing one.
