Debarlmarra is an Abstract artwork of the Indian ocean in Western Australia. the Derbarlmarra is the Nyoongar name for the shallow sea that runs from Fremantle down the coast to south of Rockingham. it is a shallow sea that separated Rottnest form the mainland thousands of years ago.
the artwork depicts the shallow areas with the sandbanks going into the deeper ocean, the circles represent the the Nyoongar people of the area and the connection to the Derbarlmarra.
