These new additions to my Soul Seed Series have my signature Deliberate Doodles white lines on white — to reflect on the many different moments that ‘mark’ our days during change and uncertainty. (hello pandemic!)
When we navigate a journey with courage… there is a certain texture of emotions & growth we get to experience.
When I look at my signature body of work, I see an unfolding hero's journey. There are windows to the past, there are anchors to bring you back to the present. Some weave memories with energy and emotions. The spirals anchor you in the chaos & float amongst clouds of calm washes of colour
I began to wonder what was happening behind those moments of calm and that’s where my Soul Seeker Series came from.
After this, I turned my eyes to the spirals themselves. I wondered what I would find if I zoomed in & dug deeper. What stories did they hold in themselves?
Usually they were one of many characters in my epic paintings. But what would their spin-off solo album be about?
This became the genesis of my SOUL SEED SERIES.
These spirals revealed themselves full of personality and a deep history of memories and stories. So the names also just come to me like treasures that float up from a mystical well.
Like the names that you give your babies, when you just KNOW this is THE name. The paintings TELL ME their names. There is so much power in a name.
