Low Tide by Brigitte Ackland -
Living on the coast of Western Australia fires the artist's imagination and provides her with ample opportunity and inspiration for her dynamic Waterscapes, the round shape providing a 'porthole' to this view.
The intricate patterning and beautiful colours throughout this abstract interpretation of a tide pool would make a stunning statement in any room. The gold leaf foil adds a beautiful glow whenever touched by light. The paint has been carried onto the sides eliminating the need to be framed.Â
Working intuitively and spontaneously, the different densities of paint reacting to each other to organically mingle and swirl. The resulting surface irregularities adds to the abstract quality and imperfect beauty of her art. Once dry, she overworks areas to enhance and add further vitality, depth and colour, always striving for a sense of harmony and balance.
Photographs don't do justice to the wonderful patterning throughout, which can only be appreciated in life. Please note the painting in a room is for illustrative purposes only and not to scale. The actual size is 70cm in diameter. Being a solid wood piece, this is heavy.
The piece is acrylic and enamel paint on double-primed solid wood round with 2 coats of protective gloss varnish and is ready to hang with picture wire already in place.
