On an overcast morning in the beautiful Australian landscape, you decide to go on a peaceful walk in the park. Your surroundings seem very quiet with no sign of anyone else around. As you gaze up above, seeing the golden glow of sunshine illuminating the edges of the cloudy sky, your foot clips something and your body suddenly meets the ground. You immediately whip your head around to see if anyone saw your ungainly descent and breathe a sigh of relief that you chose today to be clumsy when the park is bare of people. However, your initial reassurance of being alone quickly dissolves as the vibrations of a cackling roar fills your ears. Blood rushes to your cheeks turning them a vivid shade of pink, and a lump appears in your throat. Oh the embarrassment. The laughter echoes through the park valley, tormenting you for what feels like an eternity. As the taunts come to an end, you begin to pick yourself up and look around. Surprised to not see a crowd of people pointing and laughing at you, you notice a bird in a nearby tree. Of course, you think to yourself, it was not a crowd of people but yet a Kookaburra’s call. The Kookaburra rests so innocently in amongst the gum tree, as if its laugh would never mock you. The gum leaves above glisten like gold and silver from the morning dew and the snippets of sunshine peering through the cloud filled sky. You wonder how this Kookaburra managed to time it’s cackling call so perfectly with your embarrassing stunt, supposedly making a mockery of you by accident. As if maybe it was not a coincidence at all…
