Grace

We were gifted some overblown peonies by a florist, they were generous and glorious in their full bloom and I've been doing a few studies to capture that. I was interested in the process as you apply the paint where you lose sight of the figurative elements and its only as you step back towards the end of the work that they can be read... or are found! The wax medium allows for multiple layers and complex colours with a candle like finish.

Bronwen is a Melbourne based artist. She paints mainly with oil, sometimes adding a cold wax medium. Her paintings are developed from observational sketches made on site and then revisited in the studio. Whilst remaining largely figurative, she pays homage to contemporary art theory. Subjects include landscape, figure, still life and animals studies.
