Artwork Description

I planted some poppies in the garden without great expectations that they would survive the odds (which in my garden are many) however they did and they have captured my interest with their sinuous stems, paper like petals and glorious colours. This work has been done with cold wax medium which gives a candle like finish to the painting. Prints available in different sizes on request.

Bronwen is a Melbourne based artist. She paints mainly with oil, sometimes adding a cold wax medium. Her paintings are developed from observational sketches made on site and then revisited in the studio. Whilst remaining largely figurative, she pays homage to contemporary art theory. Subjects include landscape, figure, still life and animals studies.
