Artwork Description

This work is based around the lovely Japanese vase loaned to me by a friend. Poppies and a few ranunculus from the garden , my favorite muse are captured in a surprisingly strong and colourful work. I say that because poppies appear so papery and fragile…yet they overwinter and thrive, brilliant in their colour and productivity.

Artist Bio

Bronwen is a Melbourne based artist. She paints mainly with oil, sometimes adding a cold wax medium. Her paintings are developed from observational sketches made on site and then revisited in the studio. Whilst remaining largely figurative, she pays homage to contemporary art theory. Subjects include landscape, figure, still life and animals studies.
