Persimmon and Pots

Persimmons with their vibrant smooth presence and fancy tops make for a delightful subject. Teamed with a post box red teapot and simplified and flattened shapes it has resulted in a bold and interesting work. Started with a graphite pencil and blue ground which peaks through on some edges, then finished with oil and wax leaving a candle like matte finish.

Bronwen is a Melbourne based artist. She paints mainly with oil, sometimes adding a cold wax medium. Her paintings are developed from observational sketches made on site and then revisited in the studio. Whilst remaining largely figurative, she pays homage to contemporary art theory. Subjects include landscape, figure, still life and animals studies.
