In this work I wanted bring the detail of ‘drawing’ into a contemporary style of painting with a limited palette. The end result leaves the viewer enjoying a sense of balance with the interest of the pomegranates lost and found together with the intricate pattern of the ceramic jug. Bronwen is a Melbourne based artist. She paints mainly with oil, sometimes adding a cold wax medium. Her paintings are developed from observational sketches made on site and then revisited in the studio. Whilst remaining largely figurative, she pays homage to contemporary art theory. Subjects include landscape, figure, still life and animals studies.
