Spring has bought a crop of amazing poppies in the garden. I've been working on a number of works around them as a subject. Their paper like fragility, sinuous stems, hatching buds and glorious colours have captured my interest. They have been used as a symbol of remembrance. This year as a Melbournian they have brought the reminder that seasons change.

Bronwen is a Melbourne based artist. She paints mainly with oil, sometimes adding a cold wax medium. Her paintings are developed from observational sketches made on site and then revisited in the studio. Whilst remaining largely figurative, she pays homage to contemporary art theory. Subjects include landscape, figure, still life and animals studies.
