Thassos

The coastline of the island Thassos (Greece) is breathtaking and timeless. Bedded into the rocky coastline is the Monastery of St Arhangel Mihail. I've stopped a few times at this viewpoint over the years to photograph and draw the vista. I chose this composition to bring attention to the rugged coastline and expansive ocean views. I've worked multiple layers of colour into the water reflective of the mediterranean area.

Bronwen is a Melbourne based artist. She paints mainly with oil, sometimes adding a cold wax medium. Her paintings are developed from observational sketches made on site and then revisited in the studio. Whilst remaining largely figurative, she pays homage to contemporary art theory. Subjects include landscape, figure, still life and animals studies.
