Artwork Description

During lockdown in 2020 I set myself the challenge to paint a still life with influences from Masters that I like. This one is some old fashioned roses and a little bit of Cathelin. The cold wax allows for texture and transparency and levels a matt candle like finish.

Bronwen is a Melbourne based artist. She paints mainly with oil, sometimes adding a cold wax medium. Her paintings are developed from observational sketches made on site and then revisited in the studio. Whilst remaining largely figurative, she pays homage to contemporary art theory. Subjects include landscape, figure, still life and animals studies.
