Whimsy

These lovely Veloutte Cosmos is a new variety we’ve grown in our cut flower field this year. It starts a velvet red and shifts to the variegated colour. I bought some lovely Chinese rice papers and had a play with them in this little composition., otherwise painted with oils mixed with wax for a matte finish.

Bronwen is a Melbourne based artist. She paints mainly with oil, sometimes adding a cold wax medium. Her paintings are developed from observational sketches made on site and then revisited in the studio. Whilst remaining largely figurative, she pays homage to contemporary art theory. Subjects include landscape, figure, still life and animals studies.
