Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

“To see in colour is a delight for the eye but to see in black and white is a delight for the soul."
Andri Cauldwell.

Colour may be more pleasing to the eye however it doesn't nessecarliy touch the heart.

And so, a full life can’t be as intricately described using only two tones; black and white. It must carry shades that range in value from dark to medium to light.

The depth of our valleys shade our life with resilience and strength and if we let it, the light lets in compassion and empathy.

As we experience more highlights and shadows in life, the more we discover our once immovable values and beliefs become more like shades of grey.

The best of characters are developed (created, born, birthed), in light and shade, in the highlights and shadows. Just like an artist sees in a multitude of shades, so too should we learn to seek the freedom, brilliance and mastery that is found in light and shade.

A kookaburra sits on a branch looking to the viewer with plenty of greenery surrounding it. Three lawrekeets on a black canvas. One is sitting on a vase leaning inside and another is flying above. There is a black background with a green vase. A painting of cascading falls in Australia. Rocks and greenery in the foreground with water flowing down. Set in portrait style to express the falling nature of the scene. A painting of a dog at the dinner table with a fancy tea pot on the table and a cup of tea with cake. The dog is looking straight at the viewer as if very polite looking
