Capturing a cross section of both above and below the waterline of mangroves at high tide. I have used many layers of coloured glazes to create the shadowy areas where the entwined mangrove roots weave in and out. Mangroves inhabit so many species of birdlife, fish, crustaceans and animals, so I have included a school of Mangrove Jack swimming through the water and some colourful fiddler crabs in the foreground.
