Having lived on the Gold Coast all my life, some of my favourite memories are based in the hinterland and exploring the stunning rainforests throughout the nearby ranges. Now, with children of my own, I find myself creating new memories with them, and experiencing it all afresh, through their eyes. This thickly textured oil painting, created using palette knife and brushes, was based on one such walk with my family. Coming through the rainforest, we came to a place where the trees thinned and a stream ran through the rocks, through which we could see the view ahead. This piece aims to capture the feeling of peace and light that one feels at such moments and the pure enjoyment of our beautiful surroundings.
