Those Who Cometh Part 2

My work is focused on the relationship of people with each other and their environments.
Here people wonder and reflect on movements, the to and fro of the unusual vessels carrying the unknown. Are they arriving or passing through? The pier voyeurs, they contemplate these journeys.
I work on 20 – 30 works at once, with the layers taking hours to build up and “germinate” for the direction or journey the particular work will take.
Text adds to the subtext of the work acting as a springboard for the viewer’s unique response. I am interested in the shape and feel of the shapes portrayed.
My slow process of layering mixed media and text echoes our many layers of history.

BIO
Chris is a full time mixed media artist, with a BA Fine Arts (Painting) and has been exhibiting widely in solo, selected and group shows since 1985. Chris has won several awards, the most recent being -2023 WINNER Linden Postcard Show, The Nina Taylor Birthday Card Award and previously: 2017 RUNNER UP ANL Maritime Art Award 2016 WINNER (Dreamscape) Drawing Category Daylesford Art Show, Vic -Judge Victor Rubin, renowned Australian artist. 2015 WINNER (Life Series Vignettes 2014 "FAMILY") Lost In Sculpture, Indoor Award, Dunkeld, Vic - Judge Kirsten Paisley, Deputy Director, NGV Her 2016 solo "CONNECTIONS IN UNKNOWN SPACES" received widespread acclaim.
