KOMODO DRAGON is a side profile portrait of the largest lizard alive today.
The Komodo Dragon is a Monitor Lizard, it can reach 3 meters in length and weigh up to 135Kg's. Today they are Endangered and live on only a small selection of Indonesian Islands. 4 Million years ago they evolved in Australia among a group of giant reptiles that lived off the large Mammals of the Mega-Fauna.
With only around 5'000 remaining in the wild they are one of the few animals alive today that truly represent a different age of our Earth.
This photorealism portrait depicts the subtle textures and forms of the Komodo's scales. The composition of the piece shows the Komodo as still as only a reptile can be, basking in the sun to warm its cold blood.
KOMODO DRAGON received a commended place in the finals of the Wildlife Artist of the Year in the U.K, 2013.
